The Professional and Amateur winners beat off stiff competition from the eight other finalists who took part in the cook off at Harvey Nichols Fourth Floor Restaurant in Leeds.

Tim won his section with a recipe for Lamb Rack with a Herb and Parmesan crust, served with Sticky Carrots, New Potato and Green Bean Salar and Savoy Cabbage sauteed in olive oil and wholegrain mustart, with a caramelised balsamic vinegar dressing, whilst David's Steamed Wild Sea Trout on Crunchy Vegetable, Roasted Cherry Tomatoes and Garnished with a Warm Viniagrette, topped with a Crispy Potato Garnish brought him the Professional Chef title.
 
Helen Rosillo beat off stiff competition from four other finalists who took part in the cook off at Betty's Cookery School in Harrogate.  She won with her recipe for Warm Goats Cheese and Red Onion Tartlet with a Sweet Pepper and Tomato Chutney.

We are not looking for the next Jamie Oliver but are looking for Yorkshire's best professional, amateur and young cooks.
 
Now in its fourth year, The Great Yorkshire Cookery Competition 2007 is open to anyone who has a love of good food and Yorkshire produce.

    Open to any chef resident in Yorkshire.

  • Great Yorkshire Amateur Chef of the Year
    Open to any enthusiastic amateur cook over 16 years old in Yorkshire.

  • Great Yorkshire Junior Chef of the Year
    Open to any young person 16 years and younger in Yorkshire.

There are five easy steps to becoming a Great Yorkshire Chef, entry is free and accepted in one category only.
 
1.
Decide which group to enter.
 
2.
Complete the entry form.
 
3.
Send one original recipe for either a starter, main course, or dessert. The recipe must use Yorkshire produce as far as possible and cost less than £10 to make.
 
4.
Attach a written submission giving the reasons you have chosen the dish and the Yorkshire produce used (no more than 100 words).
 
5.
Send your recipe and written submission to:

A panel of judges reads the written entries and they select four finalists in each group. They look for nutritious and healthy dishes coupled with innovative and imaginative use of Yorkshire produce.
 
The finals take place in September 2007 with a 90-minute ‘Cook-Off’. Finalists will prepare, cook and serve their dish to the judges with winners announced on the day.
 
Each winner will receive a prestigious wall-plaque, framed certificate and hold the title for one year as well as receive a £250 cash prize. The winners will also cook their dish in the Yorkshire Life Cookery Theatre at the Countryside Live Food and Farming Fair, October 2007.
 
The Great Yorkshire Cookery Competition 2007 is run by The Yorkshire Agricultural Society in association with Yorkshire Life Magazine, Harvey Nichols and Bettys Cookery School.  The competition receives extensive media coverage including Yorkshire Life Magazine, with winners appearing in the December issue.
